CEO of EIRYO Corporation
Eiryo Kudo
Japanese Cuisine Chef
A chef bringing Japan’s food culture to the world
Born in Ota City, Tokyo, and raised in a family that ran a restaurant, he graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan Yukigaya High School before joining the long-established Japanese restaurant Nadaman.
He learned the foundations of Japanese cuisine at locations including the Imperial Hotel branch, then further honed his skills in both Japanese and Western cuisine at a French restaurant in ANA InterContinental Tokyo.
At the age of 29, he resolved to become a residence chef, and went on to serve for a total of 10 years at three diplomatic posts: the Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver, the Embassy of Japan in China, and the Embassy of Japan in France.
He was responsible for preparing meals for diplomatic receptions and official state functions, contributing to cultural exchange through Japanese cuisine while hosting distinguished guests from around the world. In 2013, he received the Minister for Foreign Affairs Commendation, “Outstanding Executive Residence Chef,” from then Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.
After returning to Japan, he began his activities based in Denenchofu, Tokyo, and founded EIRYO Co., Ltd. in 2022.
Today, his work spans providing in-flight meals for private jets, catering for international film production crews, supporting regional food culture projects in collaboration with municipalities and producers across Japan, as well as lectures and culinary events—developing initiatives that connect people, regions, and culture through food.
As a practitioner of cultural exchange through cuisine, he continues to share the richness of Japan’s food culture with audiences both in Japan and abroad.
